About Quidam de Revel
Quidam de Revel is a (died 2014) bay Selle Français showjumping stallion foaled in 1982, by Jalisco B out of a Nankin dam.
Quidam de Revel, born on 27 January 1982, was a renowned Selle Français stallion celebrated for his exceptional showjumping skills and significant breeding influence. Bred by Prince Amaury de Broglie and raised by Fernand Leredde, he was recognised for his early potential. His sire was Jalisco B, a notable descendant of the influential stallion Almé, and his dam, Dirka, was sired by Nankin. His lineage also included the prominent ancestors Ibrahim and Furioso, providing a strong genetic foundation. Throughout his career, Quidam de Revel achieved significant success on the international stage. Initially ridden by Hervé Godignon, they secured a team bronze medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and placed fourth individually. They also won prestigious events such as the Grand Prix and Nations Cup in Rome the same year. Later, he was ridden by Thomas Velin after his purchase by Danish owner Flemming Velin and continued competing successfully until retiring in 2011. Quidam de Revel's impact on showjumping extended well beyond his competitive record. He was approved by numerous studbooks, including Zangersheide, BWP, and Hanoverian, and his superior genetics were evidenced through his offspring. In 2002, he was ranked number one by the WBFSH, highlighting his significant influence as a breeding sire.
Quidam de Revel has stamped his legacy significantly in the field of showjumping through an impressive lineage of successful progeny. His offspring include VDL Groep Verdi TN N.O.P., who achieved remarkable feats such as a team silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics and team gold at the 2014 World Equestrian Games under the Dutch rider Maikel van der Vleuten. Another notable progeny, Rahotep de Toscane, contributed to France’s team gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics with Philippe Rozier. Quidam de Revel's offspring have performed at high levels consistently, with more than 165 descendants competing at the prestigious 1.60m level and above, showcasing his considerable impact on modern showjumping breeding programs.
Quidam de Revel died in 2014 at Denmark (not specifically stated). Breeding may continue via frozen semen — confirm availability with the stud.
