About Furioso II

Furioso II is a (died 1986) Liver Chestnut Selle Français showjumping stallion foaled in 1965, by Furioso out of a Talisman dam.

Furioso II was a Selle Français stallion born in France in 1965, renowned for influencing showjumping through his offspring. Despite not competing himself, his genetic and physical attributes laid the foundation for successful sport horse lineages. In 1968, breeder Georg Vorwerk brought him to Germany, where he gained approval from the Oldenburg studbook before acceptance by other major German studbooks, including Hanoverian, Rhineland, and Westphalian. Furioso II's descendants have greatly impacted the equestrian world. He stood 16.1 hands high with a liver chestnut coat and had notable lineage. His Thoroughbred sire, Furioso, descended from Precipitation, produced versatile sport horses, while his dam, Dame de Renville, was a Selle Français mare. Furioso II was appreciated for imparting desirable traits, evidenced by decades of successful progeny. Between 1979 and 1989, his impact in Germany was highlighted by recognition as a top-producing stallion, and the international achievements of his progeny further solidified his status in sport horse breeding.

Furioso II's influence as a breeding stallion was unmatched. Among his notable offspring was For Pleasure, who not only excelled on the international stage but also contributed to Germany's team gold medals at the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games. For Pleasure gained recognition as German Horse of the Year twice and found success with riders such as Lars Nieberg and Marcus Ehning. Another prestigious offspring, Voltaire, although better known for his sire capabilities, performed admirably and left a lasting legacy in showjumping. Furioso II's genetic contribution has permeated multiple generations, producing top-level competitors across the international arena. His progeny collectively earned a substantial prize money sum throughout their careers in showjumping.

Furioso II died in 1986 at Belgium (colic). Breeding may continue via frozen semen — confirm availability with the stud.
