What EquiWiki is, and why images appear here

EquiWiki is a non-profit reference work — a source of information about showjumping horses, riders and shows. It is free to read, carries no advertising against images, sells no image, and makes no money from displaying any image. Images appear for one reason only: a reference page about a horse or rider is materially more informative with a likeness of its subject.

Every image on EquiWiki carries a visible credit naming its source, linking back to it. Owner-uploaded images arrive through Equi Registry with rights assigned at upload. Other images are used on the basis above — informational, credited, non-commercial — and we honour removal requests from rights holders through the process below.

Requesting removal of an image

If you hold the rights to an image shown here and want it removed, we will remove it. Two things are required:

1. Proof that you own it — your name as the credited photographer or publication, the original file or its source page, or an assignment of rights. A request without proof of ownership cannot be actioned: we cannot let anyone remove anyone's image.
2. A written request naming the exact page (URL) and image, sent via our contact page with the subject line “Image takedown”.

Verified requests are actioned promptly, and the image will not be re-collected for that page.

Takedown requests are published

In the interest of the transparency this whole site is built on, we publish takedown notices we receive and act on — the page affected, the date, and the outcome (not the requester's private contact details). A reference work that removes content silently cannot be trusted about what remains; the takedown log is the record.
