About Cristallo I
Cristallo I is a Bay Holsteiner showjumping stallion foaled in 1998, by Caretino out of a Cicero dam.
Cristallo I is a Westphalian stallion born in 2003 in Germany. Sired by the notable Cornet Obolensky and out of the mare Cassie, he belongs to a lineage recognised for showjumping excellence. This exceptional genetic background has significantly contributed to his achievements in both competition and breeding. Identified as promising early on, Cristallo I was a premium stallion at the NRW licensing in 2005. In 2006, he achieved an impressive average score of 8.33 in his 30-day test at Münster-Handorf. Notable career achievements include being a Reserve Champion at the Westphalian Optimum in 2007 and a Westphalian champion and Bundeschampionat finalist in 2008. Partnered with rider Henrik von Eckermann, his international career was promising before an injury in 2011 halted it, though he was once a potential Olympic contender. At Gut Neuenhof Stud, Cristallo I has made significant contributions as a sire. His progeny have impacted showjumping, including six licensed sons and Cristofin as a premium stallion. Over 60 descendants have reached advanced competition levels, enhancing his status in breeding circles.
Cristallo I has sired several successful offspring that have made their mark in international showjumping. Notably, Cristalline, one of his progeny, achieved a top ten finish at the 2016 World Cup Final in Gothenburg with Australian rider Chris Chugg, and later contributed to the US team's victory at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon under Adrienne Sternlicht. His progeny Castello, under Henrik von Eckermann and Evelina Tovek, won the Prize of Europe at CHIO Aachen in 2018. Additionally, Cristallo I's daughter Casablanca reached the final of the World Championships for Young Show Jumpers, further cementing his legacy as a prominent breeding sire [source: beligneuxleharas.com, https://www.beligneuxleharas.com/en/cristallo-i/].
