About Burggraaf

Burggraaf is a (died 2006) Bay Holstein showjumping stallion foaled in 1983, by Landgraf I out of a Cor de la Bryère dam.

Burggraaf was a stallion known for his achievements in showjumping and influential breeding role. Born in 1983 in Germany, he was registered with the Holstein Studbook and bred by I. and J. Block, representing the esteemed Holstein lineage. His sire, Landgraf I, and dam, Loanda, merged two successful Holstein jumping lines: Landgraf I and Cor de la Bryère. His competition milestones include a standout performance at the 1991 Indoor Brabant, where he cleared a 2.10m fence in the puissance class with rider Roelof Bril, and becoming the reserve champion in the 1.40m class for KWPN stallions in 1993. Burggraaf was approved by studbooks such as Holstein, KWPN, and Selle Français, despite an initial blood test anomaly with the KWPN. The success of his progeny in international competitions ensured his esteemed reputation.

Burggraaf sired numerous successful showjumpers, leaving a profound impact on international showjumping. Notable progeny such as Graaf Obelisk and Power Point have competed on significant international stages. S’Blieft and Obelix, also Burggraaf's offspring, have demonstrated outstanding ability in 1.60m competitions, participating in National Cups and other esteemed events. Zerly, ridden by Christina McCrea, reached the Grand Prix level, while Everse W, ridden by Rowan Willis, further illustrates the competitive calibre of his descendants. These progeny highlight Burggraaf's significant contribution to the sport, elevating the performance of showjumping genetics.

Burggraaf died in 2006. Breeding may continue via frozen semen — confirm availability with the stud.
