About Berlin
Berlin is a (died 2020) grey Holsteiner / KWPN showjumping stallion foaled in 1994, by Cassini I out of a Caretino dam.
Berlin, a showjumping stallion born on 3 November 1994 in Germany, was originally named Caspar. This grey Holsteiner stood 174 cm tall and was bred by Josef Unckelbach, belonging to the esteemed Holsteiner studbook and affiliated with the KWPN. Berlin had an impressive lineage, being the offspring of elite showjumping sire Cassini I and the dam Estia, with renowned stallion Caretino as his grandsire. On the international stage, Berlin shone under the Dutch rider Gerco Schröder. He played a key role in the Dutch team's gold medal wins at the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen and the 2007 European Championships in Mannheim. At the 2006 World Equestrian Games, he secured an individual sixth place in showjumping. His Grand Prix successes included victories in La Coruña, Verona, and the Grand Prix of Valkenswaard. In 2006, Berlin was named the Dutch Champion, confirming his status in the showjumping field.
Berlin's influence extended beyond his own competitive achievements through the excellence of his offspring. Notable among his progeny is Extra, who achieved success at the 1.60m level with Olivier Philippaerts. Berlux also competed at the 1.60m level with riders Simon Delestre and Max Wachman. Another offspring, Caspar 232, saw success at the same 1.60m height with Emanuele Gaudiano. Berlin's progeny continued to demonstrate his legacy in the showjumping arena, contributing significantly to the sport's top tiers.
