About Usha van 't Roosakker
Usha van 't Roosakker is a bay BWP showjumping broodmare foaled in 1997, by Chin Chin out of a Major de la Cour dam.
Usha van 't Roosakker is one of the most influential foundation broodmares in modern showjumping, and the striking feature of her record is that the elite conversion is distributed across several unrelated sire crosses rather than concentrated in one fashionable nick. She produced four direct 1.60m offspring - Babbe van 't Roosakker by Kannan, Cella by Cento, and Emperio and Equador van 't Roosakker by Nabab de Rêve - and three consistently reported approved sons in George Z, Good Boy and Topaz Pommex Z. Cella is the headline athlete: European team gold and individual silver at Herning in 2013 with Ben Maher, the FEI's leading jumping combination for that year, a London Global Champions Tour Grand Prix, Wellington World Cup and Grand Prix wins, the Dublin Nations Cup and the Paris CSI5* GCT 1.60m on 5 July 2015; she then produced Happy Wandor van 't Roosakker at 1.60m and the approved sons Chicago Blue VDL, Pink Floyd VDL and Point of Honor. Published offspring totals are dated, source-specific snapshots and must not be totalled: HorseTelex exposes a 17-name direct roster, Hippomundo reports 18 offspring and 10 sport horses, a 2024 Studutch profile counts three approved stallions, six international showjumpers and four at 1.60m, and an SV Breeding family profile claims nine daughters and more than 50 international descendants. Her deeper value is in the number of independent transmitting daughters. Atoucha by Darco has no elite public sport record but founded the family's deepest branch through Electra, Falco and Gatoucha and onward to Kaprice, Attoucha Hero Z, Zarkava Hero Z, Dourkhan Hero Z and Novak de Kalvarie. Babbe combined Grand Prix sport with the production of Erco van 't Roosakker, Geena, Dulhan de la Roque and Giorgio van 't Hagenhof, and through Geena the 2025 Belgian four-year-old stallion-competition champion Vesper van 't Veer. Evita, only a 1.25m horse herself, was recorded by Hippomundo with ten internationally active offspring in a single 365-day period, five of them Black Type, and produced the van de Bisschop group and the high-value mare Nusha van den Bisschop. Aquita at 1.30m is the dam-line source of Harkito van den Berg and Mufasa; Britt produced the 1.60m Athena and the donor mare Huawei vd Braembeier; Forme-Dubra produced Kanda Duti and through her the 1.50m Moneypenny and Nemo de Porceyo, deliberately intersecting the Usha and Qerly Chin dynasties. The late-life crosses of 2012-2015 opened modern donor and approved-male routes through Mom's Goya, Mom's Nusha, Korvette Z and Topaz Pommex Z. Male-line influence runs through her grandson Erco and her great-grandson Kassander van 't Roosakker, whose limited early crops produced high proportions of 1.45m-1.60m offspring. The line remains commercially liquid: descendant embryos, foals, mares and stallions traded internationally through 2025 and 2026, and a Studutch profile of the Evita-branch mare Nusha van den Bisschop lists her products New Usha van 't Studutch at EUR 52,000, Rosanne van 't Studutch at EUR 36,000, Chacco Gold van 't Studutch at EUR 28,000 and an implanted embryo at EUR 22,000, none of them individually dated. The honest qualification is that 'the Usha line' is a commercial phrase, not a genetic one: the intervening daughter branch - Atoucha, Babbe, Cella, Evita, Forme-Dubra or Goya - has to be identified and performance-tested, because each path carries different sport conversion, sire repetition and phenotype evidence.
Own record: International 1.50m showjumper and BWP Elite mare. Usha van 't Roosakker was born on 1 May 1997 at Marc Kluskens' Sint-Gillis-Waas breeding operation, by the Holsteiner Olympic sire Chin Chin out of the BWP mare Rosanne van de Withoeve by Major de la Cour, and she is the modern figurehead of BWP performance family 100 (Prestatiestam 100). She was selected for the BWP national show as a three-year-old in 2000 and placed fourth in her class, taking the first step towards the E-label; she was awarded the health predicate, later shown as the G-label, at four, and earned the P-label in the classical five-year-old cycle in 2002 under Valentijn De Bock. From roughly 2003 she moved into the Stephex Stables sport programme, where BWP records repeated top-ten finishes at CSI3* and CSI4* level with Gilbert De Roock, Marlon Modolo Zanotelli and Jonas Vervoort. Published result summaries for 2008 name a fifth at Vejer de la Frontera 1.45m, sixth and seventh at Overijse 1.45m and a further seventh at Vejer de la Frontera 1.45m with De Roock. Her visible FEI record - which begins only in 2010 and therefore omits most of her international career - shows 13 starts and two wins, with final appearances in 1.35m classes at CSI2* Vidauban in 2011 with Eiken Sato, including a seventh place. BWP and the specialist databases classify her at 1.50m; the named 1.45m placings are the strongest result-specific evidence currently located, and the two should be read as different kinds of record rather than reconciled. In 2014 BWP made her Elite designation definitive, recognising the combined sport, health and production record, and Marc Kluskens received the 2014 BWP/KBC award with Usha central to the programme's profile.
Foundation mare of BWP performance family 100 and one of the most influential broodmares in modern jumping. Own 1.50m international record; four direct 1.60m offspring (Babbe, Cella, Emperio, Equador) and three approved direct sons (George Z, Good Boy, Topaz Pommex Z); elite conversion distributed across Kannan, Cento, Nabab de Rêve, Darco, Calvados, Carnute and Querlybet Hero. Deceased, so the target is a verified direct daughter or close descendant with a named branch - Atoucha, Babbe, Cella, Evita, Forme-Dubra or Mom's Goya - rather than the mare herself.
