About Toulon
Toulon is a (died 2020) bay BWP showjumping stallion foaled in 1996, by Heartbreaker out of a Jokinal de Bornival dam.
Toulon is a Belgian Warmblood stallion born in 1996. Registered with the Belgian Warmblood Studbook (BWP), he was bred by Peet Dieleman in Belgium. Toulon is a descendant of Heartbreaker and grandson of Nimmerdor, with his dam Nikita connected to Jokinal de Bornival, illustrating a robust showjumping lineage. He achieved prominence in international showjumping with rider Hubert Bourdy, notably winning the Global Champions Tour Grand Prix in São Paulo in 2007. That year, Toulon was honoured as France's Horse of the Year and topped the BLUP index for performance stallions. Retiring from competition in 2009, he transitioned to breeding, with his offspring performing across BWP, SBS, Oldenburg, and SF studbooks, upholding his influence in the sport.
Toulon has sired numerous progeny who have excelled in international showjumping competitions, affirming his status as a premier sire. Among his notable offspring is Toulago, who achieved success with several major wins, such as the CSI5* World Cup in Zürich and the CSIO5* Nations Cup in Lummen in 2014 with Pius Schwizer. Another of his progeny, Toulayna, has marked her presence by securing the $226,000 Horseware Ireland Grand Prix in Wellington in 2023 with Kent Farrington. Elky van het Indihof HDC and Woulon L are additional examples of Toulon's progeny who have captured victories under renowned riders at prestigious events across Europe and beyond. Such achievements underscore Toulon's influence and contribution to the sport [6, 8].
