About Mr Blue
Mr Blue is a (died 2006) grey showjumping stallion foaled in 1988, by Couperus out of a Oldenburg dam.
Mr Blue was a celebrated KWPN breeding stallion known for his international showjumping success. Born on January 1, 1988, he was initially not approved by the KWPN Stallion Commission after a wind operation at age two. Despite this, Mr Blue gained approval from other esteemed studbooks such as Zangersheide and Selle Français. Breeder H. Potze produced this grey stallion with a pedigree from notable Arabian and Thoroughbred lines. Competing at top events, he was ridden by Bert Romp, Elise Haas, and Katie Monahan-Prudent. In 1996, he achieved second place at the Grand Prix of Zuidlaren and the Nations Cup in Rotterdam, alongside other runner-up finishes in European Grand Prix events. His 1997 victories included the Grand Prix at CSI Hachenburg. Moving to the United States in 1998, he continued competing until retiring in 2003. Mr Blue tragically died on July 11, 2006, in France from a cerebral haemorrhage after a paddock accident. His offspring maintain his presence in showjumping arenas worldwide.
Mr Blue's legacy extends through his exceptional progeny, most notably Zirocco Blue and Plot Blue. Zirocco Blue, ridden by Jur Vrieling, showcased extraordinary talent by securing numerous Grand Prix victories and playing a significant role for the Dutch team in several Nations Cups. Plot Blue, under the expert guidance of Marcus Ehning, achieved outstanding success by winning the prestigious 2010 World Cup Final in Geneva. The competitive triumphs of Mr Blue's offspring underline his profound influence on the showjumping sport.
Mr Blue died in 2006 at France (cerebral haemorrhage). Breeding may continue via frozen semen — confirm availability with the stud.
