About Mr. Blue

Mr. Blue is a (died 2006) grey KWPN showjumping stallion foaled in 1988, by Couperus out of a Oldenburg dam.

Burg's Mr. Blue, a KWPN stallion, was born in 1988 in the Netherlands. He was bred by H. Potze and, despite being initially overlooked for licensing due to a wind operation, was approved by the KWPN in 1997 after demonstrating exceptional showjumping potential. His approval by the Zangersheide and Selle Français studbooks emphasised his breeding value on an international scale. Mr. Blue's competitive career began with Bert Romp, notably securing numerous Grand Prix second places in 1996 in events such as Zuidlaren, Maastricht, and Geesteren. In 1997, they finished second at the European Championships in Mannheim, followed by a second place at the World Cup Final in Helsinki in 1998. His later partnerships with riders like Elisa Haas and Katie Monahan-Prudent showcased further successes in Grand Prix and Nations Cup competitions. He concluded his career with the GFE breeding syndicate in France and passed away on 11 July 2006 from a cerebral haemorrhage after attempting to jump a paddock at Fabrice Paris's stables.

Burg's Mr. Blue has left a lasting legacy in showjumping through his notable progeny. His son, Zirocco Blue, achieved considerable success under rider Jur Vrieling, including victory in the Grand Prix of Copenhagen and contributing to the team gold at the European Championships in Aachen. Another of his notable sons, Plot Blue, rode to prominence with Marcus Ehning, winning the 2010 FEI World Cup Finals and competing at the 2012 Olympic Games. These achievements underscore Mr. Blue's significant impact on future generations of showjumping horses.

Mr. Blue died in 2006 at Fabrice Paris's stables, France (Cerebral haemorrhage after paddock accident). Breeding may continue via frozen semen — confirm availability with the stud.
