Galoubet A is a (died 2005) Bay Selle Français showjumping stallion foaled in 1972, by Almé out of a Nystag dam.
Galoubet A was a Selle Français stallion born in France in 1972. Bred by Colette Lefraut, he was a product of the notable sire Almé and a non-competitive trotter mare named Viti. Despite initial doubts stemming from his damline's trotter ancestry, his showjumping talent was clear. He stood 173 cm tall, with a bay coat, and made an early mark in competitive jumping. Galoubet A excelled in his career largely alongside French rider Gilles Bertran de Balanda. At age seven, he won the Grand Prix at Wiesbaden in 1979, marking his entry into international showjumping. In 1980, he was part of winning Nations Cup teams in prestigious competitions. Though his competitive career was short due to breeding commitments, he secured first or second in 22 international Grand Prix or Prix de Nations events. Transitioning to stud in 1982, Galoubet A was an influential sire, famed for passing on his athletic excellence and competitive nature. He spent his remaining years in the United States, where he died on 29 December 2005.
Galoubet A was distinguished not only by his own accomplishments but also by the success of his progeny. Notably, he sired Baloubet du Rouet, a triple World Cup champion and Olympic medallist, establishing a legacy of excellence in the showjumping sphere. Another of his famous offspring, Quick Star, furthered the lineage's reputation through successes at the highest competitive levels. Touchdown, another notable progeny, carried forward Galoubet A's influence by becoming the highest-placed Irish horse at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Galoubet A's offspring have continuously contributed to his third-place ranking in the WBFSH standings for the 2000/2001 season.
