About Corrado I

Corrado I is a (died 2022) grey Holsteiner showjumping stallion foaled in 1985, by Cor de la Bryère out of a Capitol I dam.

Corrado I, a Holsteiner stallion, was born on February 21, 1985, in Germany. Bred by Eduard Struve, Corrado's pedigree boasts a notable lineage, with his sire being Cor de la Bryère and his dam, Soleil, descending from Capitol I. Registered under the Holsteiner studbook number DE321210046185, Corrado stands 173 cm tall with a grey coat. His damline, Stamm 6879, is renowned for producing top-quality showjumpers, emphasising Corrado I's breeding significance.

Corrado I's competition career was marked by associations with top riders like Franke Sloothaak. He earned prestigious titles, including the Aachen NRW prize, the Dortmund and Aarhus World Cup Qualifiers, and finished fifth in the World Cup Final in 1996. He also won Grand Prix events in Leeuwarden, Kiel, and Neumünster. Representing Germany in Nations Cup events, he achieved second in La Baule and third in Aachen, and won the German Championship in 1994. Throughout his career, Corrado was housed at the Holsteiner Verband's stallion barn in Elmshorn under Gerard Muffels' management.

Corrado I was influential in showjumping, approved by multiple studbooks and playing a central role in the Holsteiner breeding programme. Despite early challenges, his exceptional jumping skill positioned him as a foundation sire, impacting successive generations of showjumping talent.

Corrado I sired a remarkable number of successful offspring, with 95 of them competing at an international level by 2006. His progeny include Clinton and Corradina, among others, who have excelled in high-level showjumping competitions. Clinton was notably placed fourth at the Olympic Games in Athens and achieved second place at the Aachen Grand Prix in 2005 under Dirk Demeersman. Corradina, competing with Carsten Otto Nagel, boasts wins such as the Grand Prix of Braunschweig and triumphs in various Nations Cup Qualifiers. Corrado I’s offspring have also continued his legacy in breeding, with several licensed sons and commendable performances in competitions worldwide [3].

Corrado I died in 2022. Breeding may continue via frozen semen — confirm availability with the stud.
