About Colestus
Colestus is a grey Hannoverian / Westphalian showjumping stallion foaled in 2006, by Cornet Obolensky out of a Stakkato dam.
Colestus, born on 2nd July 2006, is a showjumping stallion from the Hannoverian and Westphalian studbooks. Hartwig Rellensmann bred him in Germany, and he stands 168 cm tall with a grey coat. His sire is the renowned Cornet Obolensky, and his dam, Spice Girl R, was sired by the reputable Stakkato. His lineage includes multiple generations of elite showjumping competitors. Colestus had over 269 starts in international competitions but did not secure the highest championship honours. Initially partnered with Ludger Beerbaum, and later with Christian Kukuk, he competed in events like the CSI5* show in Doha's Al Shaqab. Known for his careful and intelligent jumping, he achieved several top placings. Upon retiring, Colestus joined Team Nijhof in the Netherlands as a breeding stallion. At Team Nijhof, he commands a stud fee of €1,500, with his semen distributed to enhance the calibre of future showjumpers. The achievements of his offspring highlight his ability to pass on his jumping prowess.
Colestus has sired remarkable offspring that have made a profound impact in high-stakes showjumping. Notably, Kent Farrington’s Greya secured a victory in the Rolex Grand Prix of La Baule in 2024, demonstrating exceptional talent. Another significant progeny is Colestus Cambridge, who has competed successfully at CSI5* level, including a 2nd place finish at the Longines Grand Prix of Switzerland in St Gallen, earning €100,000. Colestus Cambridge also clinched a win at the Grand Prix Giorgio Armani presented by Longines in 2026 with rider Katharina Rhomberg, further showcasing the competitive spirit inherited from Colestus.
