About Ukato
Ukato is a (died 2014) Black showjumping stallion foaled in 2001, by Stakkato out of a Literat dam.
Ukato was a black Dutch Warmblood stallion born in 2001 with an impressive pedigree and successful showjumping career. He was bred by Paul Schockemöhle and descended from a line of notable showjumpers. His sire was Stakkato, the legendary Hanoverian stallion celebrated for his jumping prowess, while his dam, Leona, was from Holstein mare line 5064, associated with distinguished stallions such as Calido I and Little Rock. Ukato earned significant victories during his career, including first place at the Grand Prix of Dresden and the Championat von Salzburg in 2010. Ridden by Willem Greve, Ukato competed at international events at heights of 1.40m and above, having initially been trained by Marco Brinkman until age seven. Ukato was recognised not only as a competitor but also as a sire, receiving a keur predicate from the KWPN stallion selection committee for his breeding impact. He sired many successful offspring, contributing notably to showjumping. Ukato passed away unexpectedly in 2014, but his influence endures through his progeny and their international accomplishments.
Ukato's legacy as a breeding sire is marked by his numerous successful offspring, who have excelled in international showjumping competitions. Among his notable progeny, Alamo emerged as a standout competitor, winning the World Cup in 2019 with rider Steve Guerdat. Other prominent progeny include Believe, Damokles, Delphi, Donata, and Faithless MVDL, all of whom competed at the 1.60m Grand Prix level. Another of Ukato's sons, Ceasar, achieved significant success, including winning the Dutch Championship for Young Riders in 2017 at the 1.50m level. Ukato's offspring continue to uphold his reputation as a leading sire in the showjumping world.
Ukato died in 2014 at Stal Brinkman (Sudden). Breeding may continue via frozen semen — confirm availability with the stud.
