About Kigali
Kigali is a (died 2018) not specified showjumping stallion foaled in 1992, by Wolfgang out of a Voltaire dam.
Kigali was a KWPN stallion born in 1992 who had a profound impact on both showjumping and dressage disciplines. Bred by H.J.M. Huis in 't Veld in Lettele, Netherlands, Kigali was initially successful in showjumping, capturing the World Champion title for young horses in Lanaken in 1997 under the guidance of Albert Zoer. Later in his career, Kigali transitioned to dressage, competing at the Grand Prix level with riders Coby van Baalen and her daughter Marlies van Baalen, achieving significant placings such as fifth in the Dutch Championships in 2007.
Kigali remained a prominent figure in equestrian sports through his successful performances in both showjumping and dressage, as well as his breeding career. His lineage is noteworthy; sired by Wolfgang, an influential progenitor of competitive sport horses, and out of the mare Finesse, who carries the bloodlines of Voltaire.
His offspring have excelled particularly in dressage and showjumping circles. His contributions to equestrian sport remain notable due to both his own competition successes and the achievements of his progeny.
Kigali's progeny include numerous sport horses that have competed successfully in dressage and showjumping. Among his most distinguished offspring, several have reached high levels in competitive arenas, although specific individuals at top tiers like the 1.50m–1.60m CSI5* level were not explicitly detailed in available sources. His lineage continues to influence the development of competitive sport horses, marked by his daughters' participation in significant competitions.
Kigali died in 2018 (heart attack). Breeding may continue via frozen semen — confirm availability with the stud.
