About Lantinus

Lantinus is a bay showjumping sport horse foaled in 1998, by Argentinus.

Lantinus was a bay gelding born in 1998, registered with the Hanoverian stud-book. Bred by Henning Mueller-Rulfs in Germany, he was a son of the stallion Landkoenig and the mare April Sun. Notably, he was trained as a showjumping horse, competing under multiple riders including Gregory Wathelet and the Irish equestrian Denis Lynch.

Lantinus had a successful competitive career, marked by victories in the 2007 season at significant events including the Grand Prix in Cannes and Wiesbaden. He achieved further acclaim by winning the Rolex Grand Prix at CHIO Aachen in 2009. Despite his successes, Lantinus faced challenges such as being disqualified from the 2008 Summer Olympics after testing positive for doping, and a similar situation arose in 2012 leading to his exclusion from the London Olympics.

Denis Lynch, as his rider, accumulated winnings of over €500,000 since April of the prior year. Despite offers up to €5.5 million, the owner Thomas Straumann retained Lantinus for further competitions.
