About Argentinus

Argentinus is a (died 2007) Bay Hannoveraner showjumping stallion foaled in 1980, by Argentan out of a Duden II dam.

Argentinus, a Hanoverian stallion born on February 15, 1980, at Jacob Büther's farm in Hollern-Twielenfleth, Germany, was a noted showjumping horse. Registered in the Hannoveraner studbook, his pedigree includes sire Argentan and dam Dorle. Acquired by Heinrich Klatte, Argentinus stood at the Klatte stallion station in Klein Roascharden near Oldenburg, Germany. Competing up to the advanced (S) class level, he excelled in showjumping. Beyond his competitive career, he successfully sired numerous top showjumpers. In 1983, he achieved an index of 126 at the stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf, finishing third. He was named Hanoverian Stallion of the Year in 2005 for his versatility and quality. Licensed with nearly all German breeding associations, his lineage made him a sought-after breeding stallion, with his progeny maintaining his influence in equestrian sports.

Among his most successful progeny is Arko III, a stallion known for his leading performances in international competitions, including a victory at the CSIO5* Grand Prix in Calgary and a second place at the CSI5* Global Champions Tour in Valkenswaard in 2008. Another notable offspring, Anka, excelled under the skilled riding of Marcus Ehning, achieving notable victories such as at Spangenberg and Geneva. Air Jordan Z, under the guidance of Daniel Deußer, was a World Cup silver medallist, showcasing the exceptional quality imparted by Argentinus. These successes underscore the influence of Argentinus in shaping top-level showjumping horses.

Argentinus died in 2007 at Lastrup, Germany (intestinal problems). Breeding may continue via frozen semen — confirm availability with the stud.
