About Silvio I
Silvio I is a (died 2015) Bay showjumping stallion foaled in 1987, by Sandro out of a Gepard dam.
Silvio I, a bay Oldenburg stallion born in 1987, was a prominent sire in showjumping and dressage pedigrees. Bred by Paul Schockemöhle in Germany, he was produced from the successful lineage of Sandro out of Gelbkatze, contributing significantly to the field of showjumping. Silvio I was approved for breeding in the Oldenburg studbook and completed his Stallion Performance Test in Adelheidsdorf in 1990, achieving an impressive overall score of 121.50, ranking 7th out of 70 stallions.
Although Silvio I did not have a notable competition career himself, his influence in equestrian sports has been profound, particularly through his offspring. He stood for stud in Germany, the U.K., and France and was sold to Haras des Princes in France in 2013. Silvio I passed away on 18th March 2015 at the age of 28. He left behind a legacy through his substantial number of licensed offspring and state premium mares.
Silvio I was the sire of some of the most successful showjumping horses in international competitions. Among his offspring, Shutterfly, ridden by Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum, achieved notable victories including wins at the CSIO 5* Nations Cups in Calgary and Aachen in 2004, a bronze medal at the 2006 World Championships in Aachen, and a gold medal at the 2007 European Championships in Mannheim. Another successful progeny was Stars and Stripes, known for fetching the top price at the PSI auction in 1992 and achieving success at five years old in the 'Circuit Excellence'. Desilvio, another of Silvio I’s offspring, placed second at the CSIO 5* Nations Cup in Rome in 2005. Sternstunde obtained a silver medal at the FEI World Breeding Championships in Lanaken in 1999.
Silvio I died in 2015 at France. Breeding may continue via frozen semen — confirm availability with the stud.
