About Quartz Rouge

Quartz Rouge is a (died 2023) Chestnut Selle Français showjumping stallion foaled in 2004, by Ultimo van ter Moude out of a Quito de Baussy dam.

Quartz Rouge was a notable Selle Français stallion, intricately bred and carrying the legacy of significant showjumping ancestry. Born on 5 May 2004 in France, his sire was Ultimo van ter Moude and his dam was Émeraude Rouge. Quartz Rouge was bred at Haras des Rouges by Fernand Leredde in the Manche region of France. Initially rejected by the Selle Français studbook for breeding at the age of four, he was later approved at eight years old in 2012, reflecting his growing reputation from a strong competitive career.

Throughout his esteemed showjumping career, Quartz Rouge competed under the skilled guidance of his primary rider, Jérôme Hurel. His competitive record is distinguished by numerous top performances, including notable placements in the Nations Cup series and European Championships. In 2014, he was triumphant at the Nations Cup of La Baule and achieved a third-place finish in the CSIO5* Dublin Grand Prix. Quartz Rouge was particularly successful in 2015, securing victories in the CSI3* Lummen and Sopot Nations Cup events and finishing fifth at the European Championships in Aix-La-Chapelle.

Quartz Rouge's significant contributions to showjumping were underscored by his commendable ISO rating of 168 in 2015, marking his peak competitive performance year. Unfortunately, a slight injury led to his retirement from competitive sport in 2018, but his contributions to the breed continued through his progeny. Despite a relatively modest number of 27 recorded offspring, his legacy continued within the showjumping realm.

As of recent reports, notable progeny of Quartz Rouge have not yet achieved significant acclaim at elite showjumping levels such as CSI5* or championships. While his breeding activities commenced after his official approval in 2013, the offspring list as per available sources is still developing without widely recognised achievements at peak showjumping levels.

Quartz Rouge died in 2023. Breeding may continue via frozen semen — confirm availability with the stud.
