Chambertin is a (died 2009) Dark brown showjumping stallion foaled in 1993, by Cambridge out of a Cor de la Bryère dam.
Chambertin was a Holsteiner stallion born in 1993 in Brunsbek, Germany, bred by Hans Werner Trost. Known for his prowess in show jumping, he recorded victories in A, L, and M classes, particularly in young horse categories. In 1998 and 1999, Chambertin excelled by winning the final qualifications at the Bundeschampionat in Warendorf with rider Jörg Naeve, and he secured the title of Holstein national champion in 1999. His competitive journey was unfortunately cut short by a cruciate ligament injury the same year. Despite the premature end to his athletic career, Chambertin distinguished himself as a top breeding sire. His progeny, including the successful Chacco-Blue, continued his legacy in elite show jumping. He has over 100 registered broodmares and ten licensed sons, reinforcing his status as a leading sire globally. Chambertin's pedigree features renowned ancestors like Cor de la Bryère, with his sire Cambridge and dam Desiree VII, tracing back to Caletto I. He was approved by the Holsteiner studbook, confirming his ability to produce competitive sport horses.
Chambertin sired several successful offspring, the most renowned being Chacco-Blue, a bay Mecklenburg stallion born in 1998. Chacco-Blue achieved significant success at the elite level, including placings at 1.60m competitions with rider Andreas Kreuzer, and is recognised as a sire of top-level competitors like Explosion W. Another notable offspring is Cedric, who was part of the Team Olympic gold medal-winning team in Beijing/Hong Kong 2008 under rider Laura Kraut. Chambertin also sired Cazaro, who competed under Carsten-Otto Nagel.
Chambertin died in 2009 at Birkhof stud, Germany (Complications from sports injury). Breeding may continue via frozen semen — confirm availability with the stud.
