About Daniel Deusser

Daniel Deusser, born on 13 August 1981 in Wiesbaden, is a German international showjumper and one of the most consistently successful riders of his generation. He completed a Pferdewirt apprenticeship at Stall Herröder in Büttelborn, was recruited by Franke Sloothaak, spent six years with Jan Tops in the Netherlands and joined Stephex Stables in Meise, Belgium, in 2012, where he remains based. Stephex dates his international debut to the 2002 European Young Rider Championships. Under national coach Otto Becker he has been a mainstay of the German team for more than a decade.

His verified senior championship record comprises two competitive Olympic appearances and four senior medals: team bronze at Rio 2016 with First Class van Eeckelghem, where he was also equal ninth individually, and European team silver in 2013 (Herning), 2015 (Aachen) and 2019 (Rotterdam). At Tokyo 2020, held in 2021, he finished 18th individually and ninth with the team on Killer Queen VDM. At the 2014 World Championships in Caen he was sixth individually and fourth with the team on Cornet d'Amour.

Deusser has started eight FEI Jumping World Cup Finals with four podiums: champion at Lyon 2014 with Cornet d'Amour, runner-up at Las Vegas 2007 with Air Jordan Z and at Fort Worth 2026 with Otello de Guldenboom, and third at Gothenburg 2016. He has won three of the four Rolex Grand Slam Majors: the Rolex Grand Prix at CHIO Aachen 2021 and the Spruce Meadows Masters 2022 with Killer Queen VDM, and The Dutch Masters at 's-Hertogenbosch 2022 with Scuderia 1918 Tobago Z. His 2025 Rolex Grand Prix win at La Baule with Otello de Guldenboom is an elite win but not a Grand Slam Major. He was German senior champion in 2013 and 2014, won the 2022 LGCT Super Grand Prix in Prague, and has held the world number one ranking in several periods, most recently from June to October 2021.

His record also includes one adjudicated equine anti-doping case: after reserpine was detected in Pristanna at a 2007 Florida show, the United States federation imposed a three-month suspension and a German federation disciplinary body later imposed a five-month licence exclusion crediting time served, with his licence restored in February 2009.

As of 4 August 2026 Deusser is world number 21, was runner-up at the 2026 World Cup Final in Fort Worth with Otello de Guldenboom, and is nominated with the same stallion - owned by Deusser and Stephex Stables - for Germany's team at the Aachen 2026 World Championships; the nomination is not yet a competitive start. His current string also includes Pepita Van T Meulenhof BR, Bingo Ste Hermelle, Devino Van't Langeveld Z and Killer Queen VDM.
