About Bertram Allen

Bertram Allen, FEI ID 10041806, is an Irish showjumper born on 1 August 1995 and 31 years old at 6 August 2026. He is from Enniscorthy, County Wexford, and has been based in Germany since 2011, at Ballywalter Farm in Hunxe, where his sister April coordinates the yard while he is away competing. He made his international debut for Ireland at the 2013 Linz Nations Cup and remains active, ranked in the mid-40s on the Longines world ranking.

He is an Olympian on one edition only. At the Tokyo 2020 Games, held in 2021, he made two competitive individual starts with Pacino Amiro, going clear in the qualifier on 3 August and finishing 15th in the final on 4 August. He was also entered for the team competition, but never jumped it: after Shane Sweetnam and Alejandro were eliminated, Ireland withdrew Pacino Amiro and VDL Cartello, and Allen did not enter the arena. That team entry is a non-start and is recorded as such. He was Ireland's travelling reserve for Paris 2024 and gave up the place when Pacino Amiro was injured, so Paris adds no Olympic appearance.

At senior World Championship level he has two editions with verified starts: Normandy 2014, where at 19 he won the opening speed leg with Molly Malone V and finished seventh individually while Ireland finished seventh as a team, and Herning 2022, where he stepped in for the withdrawn Darragh Kenny and finished 26th individually with Pacino Amiro as Ireland took fourth place. He was named in Ireland's squad for the Aachen 2026 World Championships on 15 July 2026, but that championship had not begun at the cut-off date, so it is a selection and not a start.

His European Championship record runs from Aachen 2015, where he was 16th individually and seventh with Ireland on Molly Malone V, through Gothenburg 2017, where he jumped the earlier team rounds on Hector van d'Abdijhoeve before a fall on the Thursday ended his championship and Ireland's remaining three riders won team gold, to A Coruna 2025, where he was 38th individually and fourth with Ireland on Qonquest De Rigo. His single FEI Jumping World Cup Final start came at Las Vegas in 2015, where he finished third with Molly Malone V at 19. His World Cup wins at Verona, Bordeaux, Toronto and Ocala are league qualifying legs, not Finals, and his one Rolex Grand Slam Major result is third in the CPKC 'International' presented by Rolex at the Spruce Meadows 'Masters' in September 2023 with Pacino Amiro.

He was an outstanding youth rider: individual gold and team silver at the 2010 European Pony Championships at Bishop Burton on Acapella, individual and team silver at the 2011 pony Europeans, junior team gold in 2012 and junior individual silver in 2013 on Molly Malone V. Those are age-group results. They are labelled as youth and held outside the championship record so that they can never be counted as senior medals or senior appearances. Away from the arena he is the founder of Aloga Equestrian and co-founder of Aloga Auction and Aloga Stables.
