Ramzes, an Anglo-Arab stallion, was born on 2 March 1937 in Poland. His sire was the Belgian-bred Thoroughbred Rittersporn, and his dam was a Shagya Arab mare named Jordi. Initially stabled at the Janow Podlaski Stud in Poland, Ramzes experienced the turmoil of World War II, which saw him temporarily relocated to Germany. Following the war, Ramzes was involved in riding competitions with the Allied forces, showcasing his abilities with his rider, Lieutenant M. Bielecki. Ramzes then transitioned to Germany, where he was utilised for breeding.

Ramzes became a legendary sire in European sport horse breeding, particularly noted for his influence in the Holstein and Westphalian studbooks. Among his most renowned offspring was the mare Retina, who, under the guidance of Fritz Thiedemann, excelled in showjumping and further solidified Ramzes' reputation. Additionally, Romanus, with Hans Günther Winkler as his rider, was another of Ramzes' progeny who achieved considerable success in showjumping circuits. These horses not only advanced the performance capacity of their lines but also contributed to Germany's competitive success on the international stage.

Ramzes died in 1966 at Germany (euthanasia at old age). Breeding may continue via frozen semen — confirm availability with the stud.
