Le Tot de Semilly is a (died 2009) Alezan Selle Français showjumping stallion foaled in 1977, by Grand Veneur out of a Juriste dam.
Le Tot de Semilly, born in France in 1977, was a Selle Français stallion known for his showjumping prowess and influential breeding career. Bred by Jules Mesnildrey, his sire was the esteemed Grand Veneur, and his dam was Venue du Tot. Measuring 1.68 metres, Le Tot de Semilly had a noteworthy competition career with French rider Eric Levallois, participating in high-level international and national showjumping events. Between 1988 and 1991, he secured victories in 22 international Grand Prix and 63 national Grand Prix, earning nearly €200,000 in prize money. His career highlights include aiding a gold medal win at the European Young Rider Championships at age seven and strong performances in competitions such as the Nations Cup in Hickstead and the Wiesbaden CSI Grand Prix. His success led to sponsorship by the French Federation, making him the first French horse to receive this honour. After retiring in 1991, he excelled as a breeding stallion, siring many successful showjumping horses who carried on his legacy internationally.
Le Tot de Semilly's legacy extends significantly through his progeny, many of whom have left their mark on the international showjumping stage. Among his most successful offspring is Diamant de Semilly, who contributed to the French team's gold medal at the World Equestrian Games in Jerez and secured a team silver at the European Championships. Another notable progeny, Itot du Chateau, achieved remarkable success, including a fifth-place finish individually at the London Olympic Games and victories at several prestigious Grand Prix events such as Doha, Cannes, and Chantilly GCT events. Horses like Piccolo and Idéal de Prissey, with impressive ISO ratings, further testify to his impact.
Le Tot de Semilly died in 2009 at Haras de Couvains, France (Heart attack). Breeding may continue via frozen semen — confirm availability with the stud.
