About Thomas Frühmann

Thomas Frühmann is an Austrian showjumping rider celebrated for winning a silver medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. His riding journey started at Wiener Reitinstitut Barmherzigengasse, leading to participation in the Olympic Games in Montreal 1976 and Barcelona 1992. The pinnacle of his career came with the victory at the World Cup Final in 1992, coinciding with his team's Olympic silver. Frühmann triumphed in 32 international tournaments, including the prestigious Großer Preis in Aachen, and secured three successive wins at the Hamburger Derby. He claimed nine Austrian national titles between 1977 and 2013. His silver medal at the 1992 Olympics was achieved with the horse Genius, while The Sixth Sense brought later successes in Grand Prix events and World Cup competitions. Partnering with The Sixth Sense, a Westfalen gelding by Zorro T out of Grannus, from 2004 to 2016, Frühmann earned the title 'Rider of the Year' in 2006, with The Sixth Sense named 'Horse of the Year.' After retiring from active competition in 2016, Frühmann focused on coaching and resides in Niederneukirchen, Austria.
