About Thomas Frühmann

Thomas Frühmann is an Austrian showjumping rider who had a successful international career highlighted by winning a silver medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. Frühmann began riding at the Wiener Reitinstitut Barmherzigengasse and achieved recognition through his participation in two Olympic Games: Montreal 1976 and Barcelona 1992. Notably, he won the World Cup Final in 1992, the same year he secured the team silver at the Olympics.

Throughout his career, Frühmann claimed victory in 32 international tournaments. Among his major accomplishments were winning the prestigious Großer Preis in Aachen and achieving three consecutive wins at the Hamburger Derby. Nationale success was marked by nine Austrian national titles between 1977 and 2013. Frühmann is renowned for his partnerships with horses like Genius, with whom he won the silver at the 1992 Olympics, and The Sixth Sense, with whom he enjoyed a series of victories in numerous Grand Prix events and World Cup competitions.

One of his significant partnerships was with The Sixth Sense, a Westfalen gelding by Zorro T out of Grannus. This partnership from 2004 to 2016 brought numerous accolades, and The Sixth Sense earned the title 'Horse of the Year,' while Frühmann was named 'Rider of the Year' in 2006. After retiring from competitive showjumping in 2016, Thomas Frühmann transitioned to coaching and resides in Niederneukirchen, Austria.
