About Shane Breen
Shane Breen is an Irish showjumping rider, born on 16 September 1974 in Limerick, who is based at Hickstead in West Sussex. The fifty-stable yard there is home to the British side of the family business, Breen Equestrian, which over the past decade has grown into a breeding operation running foals, youngstock, mares and stallions alongside the competition string. He is married to Chloe Bunn.
In 2022 Breen won the Al Shira'aa Hickstead Derby with Can Ya Makan, joining the roll of honour in the competition's sixtieth running. He rates his win on Z7 Ipswich in the Dublin Horse Show Grand Prix in 2019 as the ride that stands out most in his career. He rides for Team Z Seven, having taken on a large string of the team's horses, and Cos I Can and Z7 Ipswich are among the horses associated with the yard.
