About Jerry Smit

Jerry Smit is an Italian showjumping rider born on 22 September 1969 in Milan, Italy, known for his participation in the Olympic Games and other major international equestrian competitions. Smit competed in the 1992, 1996, and 2000 Summer Olympics, achieving his best result of 17th individual placing in Atlanta 1996 with the horse Lux Z. As an active rider for Team SonyEricsson, his career highlights include participating in the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Jerez de la Frontera and securing a team 4th place at the 2005 European Championships in San Patrignano with horse Nadir DI San Patrignano.

Throughout his career, Smit has competed with several notable horses, including Lux Z and Jamiro, with whom he entered high-profile contests such as the CSI5*-W Grand Prix in Paris and the Bordeaux CSI5*-W Grand Prix. Lux Z also accompanied him in the 2000 Sydney Olympics and helped clinch victories in the Pulsar Crown competitions. In recent years, Smit has maintained a competitive presence in the showjumping circuit, participating in events like the CSI1* competitions in Oliva in 2025, where he achieved ranks between 7th and 16th on his horse, K.i Maurice.
