About Henrik von Eckermann

Henrik von Eckermann, born 25 May 1981 in Nykoping, Sweden, is one of the defining showjumpers of the early 2020s. He was 45 at the 6 August 2026 cut-off. The FEI records that he began with fellow Swede Peder Fredricson as his trainer before spending 12 years working for Ludger Beerbaum; he started his own business in 2016 and, in 2021, moved to Kessel in the Netherlands, where he founded Cyor Stables with the Swiss jumping athlete Janika Sprunger. The FEI's 2022 Awards profile calls Sprunger his life partner and records that they have a son, Noah; the FEI's 2024 World Cup Final report refers to her as his wife and notes that she rode King Edward before he did.

He is a four-time Olympic starter with a verified competitive start at each Games: London 2012 with Allerdings (team sixth, individual 23rd), Rio 2016 with Yajamila (team seventh, individual 24th), Tokyo 2020 - held in 2021 - with King Edward, where Sweden took team gold and he finished fourth individually, and Paris 2024, again with King Edward, where Sweden were sixth and he was eliminated from the individual final after falling. Team and individual starts are counted separately throughout.

At the 2022 FEI Jumping World Championship in Herning he won both the individual and the team title with King Edward. That championship is the same event the FEI formerly called the World Equestrian Games, and it is not a European Championship: no European Championship was held in 2022. His European record runs from Windsor in 2009 to Milan in 2023, and includes team bronze at Herning in 2013 with Gotha FRH, team silver at Gothenburg in 2017 with Toveks Mary Lou, and team gold at Milan in 2023 with Iliana. At the 2018 World Equestrian Games at Tryon he won team silver; he qualified for the individual final but did not start it after Toveks Mary Lou was not presented at the mandatory inspection, so he is not a 2018 individual medallist despite an FEI Awards article describing him as one.

He has five verified FEI Jumping World Cup Final starts and two titles, winning at Omaha in 2023 and Riyadh in 2024 with King Edward, after two third places with Toveks Mary Lou at Omaha in 2017 and Paris in 2018, and a fourth at Basel in 2025 with Iliana. His one Rolex Grand Slam Major is the Rolex Grand Prix at The Dutch Masters, 's-Hertogenbosch, on 17 March 2019 with Toveks Mary Lou, won in a jump-off time of 40.45 seconds.

He held the number one place on the Longines FEI Jumping World Ranking for 33 consecutive monthly rankings, from August 2022 through March 2025 - reported as the longest continuous tenure in the ranking's history - and the April 2025 list ended the run. At the 6 August 2026 snapshot the FEI listed him active and 39th in the world on 2,098 points, with 3,609 starts and 198 wins in its since-2010 statistics. King Edward was withdrawn from championship planning in February 2025, and his 2026 profile is that of an active former world number one rebuilding championship depth behind Qasirah Van De Reistenhoek, Glamour Girl, Iliana and Calizi rather than the current ranking leader.
