Edwina Tops-Alexander is an Australian showjumping rider known for her extensive international career representing her country. Born in Sydney on 29 March 1974, she started her equestrian pursuits at age eight. Her talent was notable early on when she won the Australian Young Rider's Championship in 1995. In 1998, Tops-Alexander moved to Europe to train with Belgian rider Ludo Philippaerts before establishing her own impressive career. She represented Australia in five straight Olympic Games: Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio de Janeiro 2016, Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024. Her Olympic highlights include a 9th place finish individually in Beijing and helping her team place 10th in London. Tops-Alexander earned fourth place individually in the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen, marking a first for an Australian rider. In the Global Champions Tour, she set a record by winning the overall title in 2011 and 2012 and became the first rider to earn over €1 million in prize money in the series. Notable victories include the GCT Miami Beach Grand Prix in 2016 and the inaugural Super Grand Prix in 2018. Noteworthy partnerships with horses, such as Cevo Itot du Chateau and Lintea Tequila, contributed significantly to her international success.
