About Abdel Saïd

Abdel Saïd, born on 11 June 1989 in Alexandria, is an active international showjumper who competes for Belgium and previously represented Egypt. He moved from Egypt to the Netherlands as a young rider, trained at Emile Hendrix's operation and later worked for Jos Lansink, before building his own training and sales business, AS Sport Horses, in Belgium.

His sports nationality changed from Egypt to Belgium in August 2021. The public record documents a transition rather than a single verified date: Equnews reported on 26 August 2021 that he was starting at Brussels under Belgium, World of Showjumping reported the change on 30 August 2021, and the FEI registration history records a Belgian Jumping registration for the 2022 season dated 13 December 2021, the preceding entry of 9 December 2020 recording Egypt for 2021. Every result he earned before that change remains attributed to Egypt; the Belgian nationality is not applied retrospectively, even where a live FEI results page now displays his current country code against a historical Egyptian result.

Competing for Egypt he made World Championship starts at Caen in 2014 with Vingino, where the FEI horse record classifies the pair 138th, and at Tryon in 2018 with Jumpy van de Hermitage, placing 48th individually and 12th as a team. With the same horse he finished 10th overall at the 2019 FEI Jumping World Cup Final in Gothenburg. His single verified competitive Olympic appearance came at the Tokyo 2020 Games, held in 2021, where he was 62nd in the individual qualifier with Pegasus Bandit Savoie; Egypt did not start the team competition. Earlier Egyptian honours include individual bronze and team silver at the 2007 Pan Arab Games in Cairo, a 2011 Pan Arab Games team medal recorded as bronze by Red Mills though described as a second silver by his stable profile, and individual bronze at the 2018 Mediterranean Games. He also won the Verona FEI Jumping World Cup qualifier for Egypt on 13 November 2016 with Hope van Scherpen Donder, a qualifier win rather than a Final result.

Riding for Belgium he has won the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Doha in both 2024 and 2025 with Bonne Amie, the CSI5* Eiffel Challenge in Paris in 2025, the CSIO5* Falsterbo Derby in July 2025 with Arpege du Ru, and the LGCT Super Grand Prix in Prague on 22 November 2025 with Bonne Amie. He won the Doha World Cup qualifier in February 2025 and the CSI5*-W H.H. Sharjah Ruler Cup in February 2026. At the 2025 European Championship in A Coruña he was entered as Belgium's individual rider rather than as one of the four team combinations and finished 27th in the FEI final classification with Bonne Amie; he did not share Belgium's team gold. At the 2026 FEI Jumping World Cup Final in Fort Worth he was eighth overall with Wathnan Quaker Brimbelles Z. He holds no Rolex Grand Slam Major win: only Geneva, Aachen, the Spruce Meadows Masters and 's-Hertogenbosch carry that status, and the official Major-winners register does not list him.

A fall and a broken ankle in 2024 kept him out of the Paris Olympic Games; no Paris competitive start is recorded. He returned to five-star competition and won on his Traverse City debut with Calvaro. At the 4 August 2026 cut-off he is 23rd in the Longines Rankings on 2,378 points, with Wathnan Zasou Vom Claashof and Wathnan Quaker Brimbelles Z his leading combinations, and has been named to Belgium's four-combination team for the Aachen 2026 World Championship with Wathnan Quaker Brimbelles Z. That selection is not a start and no result is attributed to it.
