About Ta Belle van Sombeke

Ta Belle van Sombeke is a (died 2012) grey BWP showjumping broodmare foaled in 1996, by Chin Chin out of a Goliath Z dam.

Ta Belle van Sombeke produced six direct offspring independently classified at 1.60m - A Pikachu de Muze by Kannan, Casimir de la Pomme and Glock's London by Nabab de Reve, Taran de la Pomme by Tolano van 't Riethof, Golden Hawk by Vigo d'Arsouilles and Dabelle by Nabab de Reve - with Wabelle de Muze and Camillo Z at 1.50m, Farao de la Pomme at 1.45m and Evoila de Muze at 1.40m. The defining result is Glock's London, a BWP stallion and BWP Ambassador who took individual and team silver at the London 2012 Olympic Games with Gerco Schroeder and team gold at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen before retiring from sport in 2019. A Pikachu de Muze won the 2006 World Breeding Jumping Championship final for six-year-olds at Lanaken, and Golden Hawk became a long-serving five-star horse with Shane Breen, retiring at Hickstead in June 2023.

Nabab de Reve is the most comprehensively proven mating: it produced Casimir, London and Dabelle at 1.60m, Wabelle at 1.50m and the modern donor Naelle Z. Kannan, Tolano van 't Riethof, Vigo d'Arsouilles and Cumano each produced a single high-quality direct result from a small sample; Querlybet Hero produced useful international depth rather than top-level proof.

Published lifetime offspring totals are dated, source-specific snapshots and must not be totalled: the HorseTelex public progeny page showed 18 direct records at 4 August 2026, Hippomundo showed 19 offspring and 10 sport horses on the same date, a 2026 RDS/Goffs catalogue extract counted 19 horses, 10 sport horses and 9 Black Type horses, and a 2024 Zangersheide catalogue counted 17 horses, 10 sport horses and 9 Black Type horses. The six named 1.60m offspring are the robust production KPI.

Her deeper value is in transmitting daughters. Quasibelle du Seigneur by Rubens du Ri d'Asse is the strongest publicly visible daughter branch: public data identifies Arac du Seigneur, Colibelle Hero Z and Oak Grove's Heartfelt at 1.60m with Dragibus d'Ick and Extra Belle d'Ick at 1.55m, all of them Ta Belle's grandchildren rather than direct progeny. Wabelle de Muze produced Cerise de Muze and Delvaux de Muze at 1.50m and anchors the De Laubry branch; Dabelle pairs 1.60m own performance with a continuing female line through Jessy Belle de Muze and Belle Amie JW; and Vibelle Z and Naelle Z are intensive modern donor mares. Ta Belle died in 2012, so no new oocytes or embryos can be created from her and the target is a verified direct daughter or close descendant rather than the mare herself.

Own record: International 1.60m Grand Prix mare and one of the clearest dual-proof mares in modern Belgian showjumping breeding. Ta Belle van Sombeke was foaled on 16 May 1996 in Belgium, bred by Luc Hofman, by the Holsteiner twice-Olympian stallion Chin Chin out of the 1988 BWP grey mare La Belle van Sombeke by Goliath Z. She raced through her sport career under Jos Lansink while being used intensively for breeding at the same time, and her own speed, scope and Grand Prix durability were proven before the quality of her offspring was fully visible. Her strongest single result is the 2006 Grand Prix of Zuidlaren at CSI3*, won with Lansink. Performance-derived catalogues also record her sixth in the CSI4* 1.60m at Liege and seventh in the CSI4* Grand Prix of Vienna in 2006. Contemporary result reports place her first in the 1.45m Ladies versus Men class at the 2006 Baltic Horse Show in Kiel and fifth in a 1.50m class at CSI 's-Hertogenbosch in March 2006; a placing at Muenster-Schlossplatz in 2005 and a second place in a 1.45m class against the clock reported by VDL Stud complete the accessible record. Two cautions apply to the record itself. The accessible modern FEI interface does not expose a complete pre-2010 results archive for her, so no lifetime start count or prize-money total is claimed here. And the previously published statement that she competed successfully in Canada before returning to Belgium has been removed: no Ta Belle-specific source supports it, and it appears to have been inherited from the histories of Chin Chin or Jos Lansink. She died in 2012 aged 16.

Established historical elite mare, deceased in 2012 aged 16, with a mature production record: six direct 1.60m offspring (A Pikachu de Muze, Casimir de la Pomme, Glock's London, Taran de la Pomme, Golden Hawk, Dabelle) and extensive multi-generational proof through Quasibelle du Seigneur, Wabelle de Muze, Dabelle, Vibelle Z and Naelle Z. Own 1.60m record including the 2006 CSI3* Grand Prix of Zuidlaren with Jos Lansink. Glock's London took individual and team Olympic silver in 2012 and WEG team gold in 2014. She is not a prospective donor: the target is a verified direct daughter or close descendant with a named branch, benchmarked against her record.
