Bred by Marie Bourdin, he hails from a lineage featuring notable show jumping names, with Diamant de Semilly as his sire and Rivage du Poncel as his dam. He began show jumping at four, initially ridden by Gaspard Taverne, then by Michel Hécart and later Marc Dilasser. Under Dilasser, he won the Grand National at Saint-Lô in 2019 and placed second in a 1.50m class at a CSI 4* event. Vital Chance paired with Irish rider Conor Swail in 2021, winning 22 international competitions, including CSI 4*-W events in Sacramento and Vancouver, and the Saugerties CSI 4*.
